A unique experience in which you can walk among the monkeys!

Do your children love monkeys? If you fancy a day trip with the kids and want to roam alongside 140 Barbary macaques, the Trentham Monkey Forest is the place to go.

This 60-acre forest, located at the Trentham Estate in Staffordshire, is around a 50 minutes drive from the Birmingham city centre and is a unique experience in which visitors can watch these fascinating creatures as they wander freely around the park.

The Monkey Forest was opened in 2005 and started with the re-homing of two groups of Barbary macaques from existing parks in France and Germany. The Barbary macaque is an endangered species, and the Monkey Forest works tirelessly to protect the species from extinction.

They do this by raising awareness of their plight, developing informative and educational resources about the monkeys and by creating an effective gene pool within the park. Over 600 macaques from the sister parks have now been re-introduced to the wild in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.

Within the park, there is an easy, three-quarter mile long pathway that is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs, and provides a fascinating insight into how the monkeys live. There are also information boards dotted along the way in case you would like to learn more, plus guides if you have any questions. Unfortunately you are not allowed to touch the monkeys or feed them. You can, however, take part in the unique breakfast with the monkeys experience! For £100 (and £70 for an additional person) you will get to feed the monkeys, have a photograph with the monkeys, receive a complimentary pass to the forest and a coffee in the Banana Café. It’s a fantastic experience for yourself or as a cool gift for a special someone.

From 11:15am every day and quarter past each hour, you can see a feeding talk and learn about the monkeys as they eat.

Trentham Monkey Forest has a café on site, the Banana Café, or you can bring a picnic to enjoy in one of the designated picnic areas. There is also a gift shop if you want to take a (stuffed) monkey of your own home!

The forest also offers birthday parties! For £10.50 per child (minimum of 10 children required) you will receive entry to the park, a birthday meal that includes a drink and ice cream and a birthday gift!
