Sheldon Country Park

by BecSorby (follow)
A lovely country park located close to the heart of the city.

Located just seven miles outside of the Birmingham City Centre, Sheldon Country Park is over 300 acres of public space, grassland, wetlands and woodland. With a children’s play area, farm and even a viewing area for Birmingham Airport, it is a lovely day out without having to go too far out of the city. Here’s what’s on for families at Sheldon Country Park.

Airport Viewing Area

Fancy doing something a bit different with the kids? Birmingham International Airport sits on the fringe of Sheldon Country Park and has a designated viewing area. Find a spot and watch the planes taking off and landing up close!

The Old Rectory Farm

This stunning old building was built in the 17th Century as the main entrance to the farm. The Old Rectory Farm has now been restored and now operates for demonstrations of traditional farming methods. It is free to enter and is open every day. You can visit a range of animals, including ponies, goats, cows, ducks, pigs, chicken and geese.

Children’s Playground

The park has a small play area, although most of the equipment is best suited to younger children. There are picnic areas close by so you can keep an eye on the kids while taking a rest. There is also plenty of space for football, rounders and other ball games.
