Parenting can be hard. If you need a bit of support, here are just some of the great support groups and workshops throughout the city.

Although parenting is extremely rewarding, it's also hard work, and sometimes you might feel like you need a bit of help. Whether you’ve got an out of control toddler, want to communicate better with your teenage kids or want to know more about setting boundaries, a parenting course may provide the answers you are looking for. Here are just some of the parenting workshops, courses and support groups in Birmingham.

Runs a range of courses including first time parents’ class, birth after caesarean (VBAC), breastfeeding workshops, dad’s only workshops and twins and multiple birth workshops.

Runs a range of courses for children of all ages, including the below:
Early Years for children up to five years and covers expectations and realities of parenting, children’s needs, play and listening, parenting styles and discipline.
Primary Years for children aged 5 to 11 years and covers children’s needs, boundaries and parenting styles and keeping safe.
Teenage years for children aged 12 and over and covers why it’s tough being a teenager, temperament and emotional needs, parenting styles, communication and conflict.
Special needs for children with ADHD and ASD.
Courses are £30.00 for the individual class or £125 for the six-week block.



Approachable Parenting

Runs parenting support groups and one-on-one work through the network of family centres and community-based parenting programmes.
Courses cover a range of topics, including children’s behaviour and provide an opportunity for parents to reflect on their parenting techniques, plus general support is available.
