Did you know that Birmingham has its very own Alice in Wonderland themed tea room?
Mad As A Hatter in Bearwood is a quirky little cafe serving afternoon tea and offering children’s activities and crafting sessions on a regular basis.

If you’re a fan of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale about Alice’s journey down the rabbit hole and into a peculiar new world, then Mad As A Hatter is worth a look. The café features Alice in Wonderland themed items including life-sized characters, arts and crafts and crazy-looking desserts and shakes.
Mad As A Hatter offers afternoon tea for two for £19.95 and includes delectable little sandwiches, slices of cake, fresh strawberries and cream, delicious mini tarts and of course, tea!

They have a HUGE variety of teas, including Twinnings, PG Tips, Yorkshire Tea, Bewley’s and Taylors. There are favourites such as English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Darjeeling and Chai, plus lots of unusual flavours that include Cranberry and Blood Orange, Salted Caramel, Cherry Bakewell and Beetroot.
For lovers of
really unusual teas, try the chocolate and Rooibos and Vanilla, Coffee Cream, Cucumber, Nettle and Aloe Vera flavour or even Sour Cherry! You can view the list

The
menu includes a variety of sandwiches, plus small meals such as the Ploughman’s Lunch, and homemade soups with Alice in Wonderland inspired flavours that include The White Rabbit’s Carrot and Coriander, Alice's Leek and Potato and The Mad Hatter’s Minty Pea. There are also homemade scones, cream teas and homemade cakes to enjoy.
The
breakfast menu features favourites such as bacon buttiess, scrambled eggs on toast, toasted teacakes and crumpets! In the warmer weather you and the kids can also enjoy locally produced Marshfield Farm Ice cream and dairy free sorbets as a treat.

If you’re into making crafts to sell, Mad As A Hatter has a dedicated section of the tea room just for local crafters to sell their wares! At the Wonderland Gift Shop, a lot of the items are Alice in Wonderland themed, but they do sell just about everything crafty!
The tea room also offers regular craft activities for children such as colouring in and building activities, plus other events – keep an eye on their Facebook page for upcoming events.
If you’re looking for a unique birthday party venue for your little one, Mad As A Hatter is worth considering. Parties last for two hours and you can choose to an afternoon tea for adults or children, or a children’s buffet.
