Child-friendly tea and coffee in Edgbaston, complete with a play area for the kids.

If there’s one thing that makes me breathe a sigh of relief when I head out to a café or restaurant with my two little girls, it’s an area for the kids. Boston Tea Party in Edgbaston has a children’s play area that will keep the little ones entertained while you enjoy five minutes of peace.

It’s hard to miss this popular British café, which has franchises throughout the UK – despite this, each café has unique qualities and is unlike any of the other franchises. The Edgbaston franchise has recently added the children's play area, making it a truly child-friendly dining experience.

The café has a new kid’s corner with toys, books, a chalkboard and a child-size table and chairs so they have their own little space to sit and draw or play. It’s aimed primarily at preschool children who usually need the most entertaining while mum and dad want five minutes to down a cuppa.

There is enough to keep them amused while you take some time out or wait for your food to arrive. You can order breakfast, brunch, a light lunch, a big lunch...there’s an extensive range of breakfast and lunch menu items for the kids – they’ve even broken it down into little meals for the under fives and over fives – now, if that’s not child-friendly dining, I don’t know what is!

There are plenty of options on the menu, including good old fashioned eggs on toast, vegetarian options, smashed avocado, pancakes, plus burgers, sandwiches and sides.

Along with delicious breakfasts, you can also enjoy plenty of different varieties of loose leaf teams, including familiar names Earl Grey, Mint and Chai, plus something a little different such as Dragon Well, Gunpowder and Oolong. They also serve fruit smoothies, a raw veg smoothie, soft drinks and milkshakes, including kids’ milkshakes.
