Do you have a budding little artist in the making? Messy art is a lovely way to spend time with your child, but it’s even better when it’s outside of the home and you don’t have to clean up all that lovely, creative mess. Birmingham has a heap of art classes for children – here’s where to find them.

A range of interactive sessions that allow children to experience art through enriched sensory activities.

Offers a range of family art activities, including Family Saturdays on the first Saturday of the month from 1pm to 4pm – there’s no need to book and sessions are free!
Runs school holiday workshops plus parent and toddler sessions for families with children aged 0 to 3 years.
Pick up an Art Explorer Bag, which contains creative activities for families – these are available at reception and are free of charge.

Family Arts at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

Family arts at BMAG for parents with children of all ages, although younger children may need help.
All activities are held in the Mini Museum – no bookings required, simply drop in between 11am and 1pm or 2pm and 4pm. Activities take place Saturdays and Sundays from now until the end of March.
Cost is £1 per child.
Craft Activities at Blakesley Hall

Little Artists classes are suitable for children aged 3 to 5 years and are held monthly on Fridays from 10:30am to 12pm.
Cost is £7 per child, which includes all materials, healthy snacks and a squash drink included.
Also offers Workshops for children aged between 4 and 12 years, which are run monthly on Sundays.
Cost is £6 per session.
Barber Art School offers classes for teens aged between 13 and 15 years and are run monthly.
Sessions are £7 per session.
Family Friendly Workshops at The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA)
