Aeroplane Activities in Birmingham

Some fantastic family-friendly activities for budding little pilots and aircraft fans!

Do you have a child who is simply fascinated by aeroplanes? Do they love watching planes take off and land, or love learning about aircraft through the ages?

Birmingham and the West Midlands has a number of activities dedicated to aeroplanes and aircraft that are suitable for families. Here is where you can find them.

Birmingham Airport Viewing Area
Birmingham Airport, Car Park 5, Birmingham B26 3QJ

Watching aeroplanes take off and land at the Birmingham Airport viewing area.
It is free to enter and is located in car park 5.
There are picnic benches and fantastic views of the aeroplanes coming in and out of the terminals.

Midland Air Museum
Coventry Airport, Baginton, Warwickshire, CV3 4FR

The Midland Air Museum houses a number of aircraft, including World War II jets.
Is also the home of the Sir Frank Whittle Jet Heritage Centre.
Has a shop selling a range of model kits and toys, plus books and magazines, plus there is a tea room.
Children’s birthday parties are also available!

Free admission to the museum – come and see a variety of aircraft from periods throughout history.
Take a ride in the flight simulator – it is suitable for families.

Most suitable for children aged 14 and over, although children who are 5” tall are welcome to come and enjoy the experience as they are most likely able to see out of the window at this height.
Fly the Boeing 737 or 747 or an Airbus A320.

Flight simulators are available to children aged 10 and over.
